Other news:

Effective March 1, we are members of the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce.

We received a $2,500 grant from Rosendin Foundation.

We have ordered a sign for the fence surrounding the gardens.

Thursdays, February 4 and 25: Growing & Nourishing Healthy Communities classes were held at the courthouse annex.

Friday, February 12: The board of directors met. A lot of exciting updates were shared and upcoming events were planned.

Thursday, February 25: Board members and community volunteers met at the courthouse annex to discuss the formation of planning committees, what these committees were needed for, along with the actions that need to be taken by each. We will meet again on March 5. Would you like to serve on a committee? Join us!

Thursday, February 26: We are just about ready to fill the Square Foot Garden boxes with Mel’s Mix. Yesterday, we went to Home Base and bought peat moss, some compost, and a couple bags of vermiculite. Today we went to Belton and loaded up Rolfe Holkesvik’s trailer with mushroom compost, chicken manure compost, Cotten burr compost, and more vermiculite. We can’t wait to get planting.

Upcoming events: Ribbon cutting in March (date to be announced). Open house on April 17. A lot of planning goes into any type of event, and we encourage you to join in the effort to bring this worthy cause into completion.

We are grateful to Jack Clark for originally donating 20, 8x2x8' boards and later donating an additional 70 boards to finish out the quadrant.
